How to Prepare for a Photography Tour

Ready to book a tour or workshop? Once you make a deposit, we will send you a itemized packing list and detailed itinerary for the tour or workshop you are going on. The following tips are foundational considerations for most trips.

Research

Go online and research the area or country you are visiting. Find photos that inspire subjects, locations, and moods. Organize and make a list of the photos you want to take. Adopting a professional assignment mindset will help you focus on your creative objectives.

Safety First

Check with us to discuss any safety concerns that may exist in the areas or countries you are visiting. Always be aware of your surroundings, especially in unfamiliar places.

Pack Smart

More than packing according to the climate and activities of your destination, consider other factors including: airline weight restrictions, use of your equipment in the field, and other needs, including prescriptions, electric adaptors, and an extra packable duffel for purchased items you might want to bring back.

Budgeting

This might seem obvious, but setting a realistic budget for your trip will make your trip more enjoyable. Be sure to inlcude the cost of travel insurance and camera equipment you may need to purchase.

Travel Insurance

We strongly recommend getting travel insurance to cover cancellations, trip delays, medical emergencies and even your camera equipment on your trip. on your trip. We use World Nomads for our trips.

Technology + Software

If needed, set your phone up for international calls. VPN apps are also handy for streaming content. Download useful applications like Google Translate. Be sure to bring a laptop, SSD drives and pre-loaded post-processing software like Lightroom or Capture One.
